What I'm discovering mostly is just how small a world Kochi really encompasses. While at a tiny and remote beach yesterday, it turned out that the other party sharing the beach with us included a woman who went to Primary School with Yoko. I hadn't seen her in two years (and certainly not in a bathing suit), so it took me an embarassingly long time to recognize her. These things, it turns out, happen.
Let's see now, the water report:
| Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday |
| (Arr. Kochi) | (Arr. Nakamura) | Shimanto River | (Arr. Kochi) | Kagami River | Kagami River | |
| Niyodo River | (Heavy Rain) | Usa Beach | Usa Beach | (Writing this) |
So: eleven days in country (more like ten, really, when you consider that we arrived at 8 p.m. on Monday), and I've spent six of those days swimming. As vacations go, I think we can call this one a success. Keep your fingers crossed, though; there's still a chance that typhoon in Taiwan could jump north.
And here's a series of pictures of shopping in a mall in Japan:

I'm hurt. All that time at the river and beach and bars and what not together and not a single photo of me or my car or my motorcycle.
btw my unscientific studies seem to show that cop bikes here are usually 1200cc Hondas.
