"Let the right one in" is a Swedish arthouse horror movie about a boy who makes friends with a vampire who's recently moved in next door. This is all established pretty early in the movie, so I'm not particularly afraid of spoiling it.
What follows is an hour-and-a-half, mer eller mindre (give or take), of both the heartwarming and the horrible. The movie seems to take its sweet time setting up the story, such that the resolution seems to come along somewhat out of the blue. What's left, however, is the bittersweet joy and agony of being twelve and uncertain; parallels will doubtlessly be drawn between this and that other famous Swedish heartwarmer, Mitt live som hund, though there is certainly a lot more blood in this one.
Quirky, artsy: thumbs up.
