According to the BBC, 'Indonesia said the drawing... was "not helpful".'

Actually, on PBS World News, they described the latter picture as the president of Indonesia as a dog humping an unwilling Papuan - which is an excellent response to the context, because the Indonesian newspaper made their cartoon in response to Australia's condemnation of the way the Indonesians are treating the Papuans, some of whom are indigenous to parts of Indonesia, and who are (of course) being systematically exploited.
And regardless of which, to say that the cartoon was "not helpful" remains an exquisite example of understatement.
Political snarkery is never helpful, but then paradoxically it's almost always worthwhile. Is there any act of the bardic circle in this world more worthwhile than to puncture the posturings of self-dignified politicians, especially those who demand respect and pretend to decency in order to indecently persecute for profit the people they should be protecting?
