David Cronenberg's new feature, Eastern Promises, is an excellent and tight little crime drama, filled with intriguing characters, superbly understated performances, and brutal, desperate violence. For you Aragorn fan-girls out there, this is going to be a kind of dilemma: there's a full-frontal shot of Viggo Mortensen, but it takes place in one of the least sexiest scenes in recent memory. Be forewarned: this movie is violent. However, it's also beautiful and well-made.
